Who I am

I am Swirly.

I'm a simple femboy that is also a catboy. I commonly compose music for older systems (NES and such) and do some casual gaming, but I also tend to mess with more recent technology (Wii U and such).

What I own

I own a few computers, but most of them are either not mine or dead.

The Mac Mini from Late 2012 (upgraded)

At the moment, it uses...

• a octa-core Intel i7-3615QM @ 3.30 GHz,
• 16GB of RAM, and
• a 256GB SSD (that managed to kill everything once).

It runs...

• Arch Linux,
• KDE Plasma,
• Tor browser and LibreWolf, and
• Pidgin (XMPP, AIM, and WLM).

...Unfortunately, because Apple likes their computers quiet, mine runs so hot I have to use a script that runs on startup to put the built-in fan past it's max RPM to stop it from reaching 100°. Yes, I know, I'll replace the paste soon.

The Dead Lenovo AIO from 2014 (hard drive failed, otherwise good)

It used...

• two Intel Pentiums (unknown model number),
• 4GB of RAM, and
• a 512GB HDD.

It ran...

• Fedora Linux,
• KDE Plasma, and
• FireFox.

The Lenovo AIO died at the age of 10 a year ago when it's hard drive failed. It got to the point where no OS (except Arch with custom partitioning) would install. A day after every install, it died more. It was retired a week later after many signs, and is now being used as a second monitor for the Mac Mini. I do have an external USB HDD lying around, but I don't wanna sacrifice that to an old computer that froze very often for the two months I used it.

The One I Don't Own from 2022

It uses...

• a quad-core Intel i5-1135G7 @ 2.4Ghz,
• 8GB of RAM, and
• A 512GB SSD.

It runs...

• Garbage (Windows 11, owner has stated that I may not install Linux), and
• FireFox.

This one is actually decent and modern, boasting a good iGPU for once (Intel Iris Xe family). ...Unfortunately, it's been banished to run Windows until actual owner gets a better one (probably in a long while) and it is deemed mine.
